So this Sunday I took advantage of a lovely, spring weather and decided to go hiking. I picked up Bystrzyckie mountains, as this is the region I rarely visit. The weather was amazing, just recently I was still wearing my winter jacket. The amount of snow was a little too much though, I ended too many times up above my knees in the snow. Photos aren't anything special, but here they are..
This years trip to Białowieża was in far less extreme weather conditions. Considering last year temperatures (below -20*C), this was almost a tropic with temperatures being around 0*C. I didn't have much luck with bison. We found early in the day 2 bulls feasting on the haystack, which is not very photogenic. Later that day we found two bigger herds and one of them was pretty far away and really not cooperative, started going away as we tried to approach it. The second one was more human-friendly. Most of the photos comes from the last encounter.
Still waiting for my shot of fighting bisons. Almost got one this time. ;)
Welcome in 2018! :)
I was starting to fell itchy just sitting around on my butt and I needed to go somewhere and change my surroundings. I figured hiking would be nice, thought about a place that will not be too much exhausting, as I didn't hike for a few months, also not too far away, and there I was - Owl Mountains. The weather was good, around 0*C, almost no wind, beautiful snowy landscapes. The one thing that was missing was a little bit of sun. A lot of people had the same idea for that day, but that didn't spoil anything.
Views were amazing but editing those photos was painfull..
On the 3rd (and last) day we were sitting in another hideout. The main idea was to see, and possibly shoot birds of prey. Fortunately I was able to see White-Tailed Eagle (4 of them to be exact), but I wasn't able to make any decent photo of them, so for you to see is only Northern Goshawk and Common Buzzard. Even though I am not fully satisfied with how photos turned out, I was really happy to have the opportunity to see them up close.
We had to go to the hideout before sunrise. Still before the sun came up a few deers came out of the forest to pose. :) It was also really fun to watch Eurasian Jays fighting over food and constantly chasing themselves. Unfortunately that was a bit too fast for me and my camera, so I didn't capture anything spectacular.
