Iceland - day 11

Another day, another location. This time we entered Western Fjords and travelled through the main road up to Isafjordur, where we stayed for the night. Western Fjords are amazing and full of wonderful landscapes, unfortunately for us sunny weather has ended and we even didn’t see them in full glory and all of its colours. Smurf house at Holmavik aside, all photos were made “on the road” without tracking specific locations.

Iceland - day 10

Day 10 started with Akureyri - the Capital of North Iceland. Lovely city in a very picturesque location.

More photos from the road number 1.

Glaumbaer (Glaumbær) - an open-air museum of traditional Icelandic turf houses. Such architecture provided insulation in harsh weather conditions and was also a solution to insufficient amount of wood available. I think that from all sites of this type, this was one the best. The biggest and also very well preserved. If you want to see the buildings from inside there is a need to buy a ticket.

Few more shots from the road. :)

Iceland - day 8

8th day meant driving into east coast of Iceland. Not many waterfalls there but a lot of amazing landscapes to photograph. I honestly had a hard time choosing photos to show and there are more that I wanted to show in the first place, but what the hell. ;)

After the night at Haukafell camping we rode to Höfn.

Next stop was little town called Djupivogur. We saw the most amazing landscapes driving there.

After quick lunch in Djupivogur we went further north along east coast, driving road number 1. We settled for the night at Egilsstadir camping before exploring north the next day.

Jizera Mountains

Ahh so much photos, so little time. '-.-

Here are few shots from my last mountain hike. Getting fit for Bulgaria trip next week. :) 21 km in 5 and half hour, not so bad. Plan was for 24 km, but I was feelin' kinda tired, so I shortened it up a bit. The weather was rather cold and windy but I deliberately chose that over sunny Sunday to have more space on the track.
